CR VAWT wind turbines reimagined - manufacturing

Manufacturing advantages:
Establishing a manufacturing facility in Darwin has many
advantages including:
1.
creating local jobs and
training;
2.
providing a cost effective
process for local manufacture of main components and assembly of the products;
3.
ease of shipping for
national and international markets; and
4.
protecting valuable
intellectual property for competitive advantage around the world.

A key cost of wind turbines are
the
blades which account for 25% of HAWT costs as they are very labour intensive
(below left). Because of this complexity MOST HAWT blade failures can be traced
back to a manufacturing error.

Gearboxes: Typically represent 13% to 15% of wind turbine costs and adds complexity and maintenance issues. The Farste Drive and CR VAWT doesn’t require any gearboxes.
By manufacturing the
columns on-site using our own patented system, we bring down transport and
inventory costs.
In relation to HAWTs, components
including large mechanical parts such as pitch and yaw systems provide
additional costs, complication, and maintenance and reliability concerns. Such
mechanical parts are not required on the CR VAWTs due to its omnidirectional
capabilities.
